Subsecond: Prefetch Checkout

If you have ever been annoyed by the delay between the cart page and checkout page of your Shopify store, this app is your solution.

This script prepares the checkout page in the background while a customer is browsing. When the customer clicks the 'Checkout' button, the page is already prepared and loaded so it can show up much faster.

Shopify relies on a 302 redirect from the /checkout endpoint to generate and redirect to a checkout page. After page load and cart changes this script resolves that checkout pages address and adds a prefetch link tag to the page to add the checkout page to the prefetch cache. A listener is added to update the prefetch cache any time the cart changes so the checkout page remains in sync.
