JD Marketplace was launched to make it easier than ever for merchants to launch in China. From a process that usually takes over a year and requires upfront investment, Shopify merchants can now list products and begin selling on JD in as little as 3-4 weeks, with no fees to open a store.

How To Get Started

Install this JD Marketplace channel app, then follow the steps to register your account and complete your store application. Once approved, you'll be able to sync and publish products to JD.com.

Documents Needed for Application

To complete your application, prepare the following in advance:

1. Business license or certificate issued by your home country's government

2. Legal ID from company’s legal representative (eg, passport or driver’s license)

3. USD denominated business bank account information to receive funds from JD

4. Document proving seller authorization for your brands--either a brand trademark (if you own the brand) or proof of purchase (if you resell the brand)

How to Sell Through JD Marketplace

JD Marketplace has built in tools to simplify the process of listing and operating for merchants outside of China:

1. Sync and List Products

   • Sync products and inventory from Shopify through the channel
   • Use automatic Chinese translation tools and currency converters to manage products

2. Get Traffic

   • Products and brands with strong product/market fit may benefit from free traffic generated by the JD Marketplace platform team
   • Merchants without Chinese language ability who want to actively market their products can connect with JD's network of vetted, English speaking marketing and operations service providers

3. Ship Orders

   • Ship orders to JD's USA warehouse, and JD Logistics handles shipping to China
   • Registered agents provide Chinese local addresses to accept product returns

Fees and Getting Paid

It's free to register your store, and JD Marketplace charges no recurring fees.

JD Marketplace collects a fixed percentage commission on sales, in addition to import duties, taxes, and shipping fees, and remits the remaining net sales to your USD bank account on a monthly basis.
