What is the “Loi TVA 2018”?

The “Loi TVA 2018”, also known as “Article 88 de la loi de finances de 2016” makes it mandatory for merchants to use an approved management and accounting software or cash register system that applies certain standards for maintaining your transaction data. Inalterable data: the software must save and maintain all payments data in its original form. Any correction, deletion or modification of a transaction must be recorded and visible, so that tax authorities can access date stamped and uncompromised data. Secure data: the data must be stored in a secure environment, through a reliable technical procedure which guarantees that the information will be maintained in its original form. Conservation and archiving of data: the software must allow for an annual closing as well as enabling transaction data to be saved for a period of 6 years. Tax authorities must be able to easily access archived data in the event of an audit.

The law came into force on January 1, 2018.
