DICOMViewer

The DICOMViewer plugin adds the following functionalities to WordPress:

• allows to upload DICOM (*.dcm) files in the media library,
• allows to insert DICOM individual files or galleries to a blog post from the media library (creates the short-code / gallery automatically).

The display is done using the open source CornerstoneJS library (CornerstoneJS).

Use

Add an individual file

The steps to add a DICOM file to your post are similar to adding an image except you don’t have a preview in the editor:

1. In the post editor, click the Add Media button,
2. Choose the Upload Files tab,
3. Upload .dcm files,
4. After the upload is complete they should be selected in the Media Library tab,
5. Click the Insert into post button,
6. This will bring you back to the editor and add the dcm shortcode to the post,
7. Click the Preview Changes button to see it in action!

Add a gallery

Gallery allow you to load more than one slice and activate the scroll bar:

1. In the post editor, click the Add Media button,
2. Choose the Upload Files tab,
3. Upload .dcm files,
4. After the upload is complete they should be selected in the Media Library tab,
5. Note: .dcm files may not show in the media list, in that case, choose the DICOM option in the first dropdown at the search bar,
6. Click the Create a new gallery button,
7. Note: You don’t need to change the DICOM files order in any way, it will be set automatically; what you can do is choose one of three standard sizes of the gallery in the settings,
8. Click the Insert gallery button,
9. This brings you back to the editor and adds the gallery shortcode to the post,
10. Click the Preview Changes button to see it in action!
